In and Around London... Down By The River In Boat Race Week

Monday is mute on the London Walks Blog (well, almost mute) – because Monday is the day when we post five images captured in and around London by London Walks Guides, London Walkers and Facebook friends. Collated on a theme or an area, if you've got some great shots of our capital and want to join in send your pictures to the usual address.

Putney Bridge

Steve Fairbairn, founder of the Head of The River Race – a 4.25 mile rowing race. This commemoration can be found at the mile mark of the Boat Race course.

Andy Holmes, Olympic Gold medalist in 1984 and 1988.

The Westminster School Boat Club is the HQ for the Oxford team – the Cambridge VIII uses nearby King’s College.

The Imperial College Boat House – “Knowledge is the adornment and protection of the Empire”.

The Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race takes place between Putney and Chiswick Bridge this Saturday 7th April.
