Every Sunday we’ll pluck just one walk from the vast London Walks
repertoire and put it centre stage.
But if you only
take one walking tour this week, why not make it…
BISCUITS & BANQUETS - A FOODIES' FORAGE & FORAY INTO THE CITY OF LONDON
Saturday 2nd April 10:45a.m Mansion House tube.
"A man may
travel all around the world, and never find anything more interesting than his
dinner." Retrace the steps of Londoners' dinners through the ages in the
City of London. Turtle soup? A modest banquet of 64 courses - or a restorative?
In a restaurant, of course.
We'll weave our
way around gin and tonic, Pimms, and recipes from Sir Christopher Wren and his
friends. Sugar and spice, biscuit fame and why dried egg made Londoners
healthier than ever before. This is history you can eat.
N.B. this is
foodie history - no food shops. But very tasty fare for those of us who are
fascinated by the subject... Guided by Ann (who else but Ann, London Walks'
Foodies' Maestro and Impresario).
Meet Ann on Saturday 2nd April 10:45a.m Mansion House
tube.
Here
she is leading one of her legendary Foodies London Walks…
A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com.
