#plaque366 Spandau Ballet

April 2016 is Music Month on The Daily Constitutional!

A London commemorative plaque for every day in 2016.

The plaques are selected from all walks of life, and all points of the London compass – and I'm taking requests too!

DROP ME A LINE or leave a comment below if you'd like to nominate a plaque for inclusion in the series

Spandau Ballet and Blitz club on Great Queen Street, Covent Garden…

North London boys all, Spandau Ballet emerged from London's New Romantic scene to conquer the charts with an unforgettable look. The New Romantics combined the shock tactics of the punks with the working class sartorial sensibility of the Mods to create an image that was both outré yet impeccably calculated.

Blitz was also where David Bowie recruited the extras for his landmark Ashes to Ashes video (1980).

And here are The Spands in their pomp…

A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at
