Friday is Rock'n'Roll London Day… The 2i's Coffee Bar, Skiffle & @popsfishnchips

Friday is Rock'n'Roll London Day! Join the Rock'n'Roll London walk this (and every Friday) afternoon at 2:00p.m meeting at Tottenham Court Road Station

Adam writes…

Exciting times in Old Compton Street! The site of the old 2i's Coffee Bar – the very birthplace of British Rock'n'Roll – is, as I blog this, in the process of being turned into a West End branch of that East End classic Poppies Fish & Chip Shop!

I was particularly thrilled to see this addition to the work…

When you join me on the Rock'n'Roll London Walk on a Friday we always swing by this historic site to discuss Skiffle - the down-home, rudimentary music that is the dancing homo erectus to the mop-topped homo sapien of the Merseybeat/British Invasion period.

Here's a playlist of embryonic British Rock'n'Roll featuring Lonnie Donegan, The Vipers, Chris Barber, Alexis Korner, Nancy Whiskey and more…

The Rock'n'Roll London Walk meets at Tottenham Court Station on Fridays at 2:00p.m

The Rock'n'Roll London walk is ONLY London Walk with its own dedicated comic book! Written by Rock'n'Roll London guide (and Daily Constitutional editor Adam) you can a copy on this afternoon's walking tour. It's also available in both print & digital formats at the London Bookstore online:
