The Who In London No.1

DC Editor Adam writes

I'm out-and-about today leading The London Music Tour (2pm Tottenham Court Road tube) and I'm sure to be joined by Wholigans in town to see Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey at Wembley this weekend.

It's the 40th anniversary year of Quadrophenia the movie.

The film – based on Pete Townhend's rock opera released in 1973 – was shot on location in Brighton and London.

The Goldhawk Road, old stomping ground of The Who back before they were famous, was one of the London locations. Cooke's Pie & Mash shop featured in a scene with our Mod protagonist Jimmy (Phil Daniels) and his rocker pal Kevin (played by Ray Winstone)…

Sad to relate the shop closed back in 2015. Sad to relate because… it was blindin'.

If you are in that neck of the woods – West London – there's a plaque dedicated to The Who on the old Goldhawk Club at 205 Goldhawk Road. Here's the plaque…

And here's how to find it…

Keep In Touch…
